KidLoop: Good Clothes Deserve a Second Life

Project description
KidLoop is a community-driven mobile marketplace built for parents to effortlessly buy, sell, and pass along outgrown children's clothing. We designed an intuitive mobile-first experience that turns wardrobe clutter into cash and promotes sustainable circular fashion.
Discovery, user interviews, wireframing, design system to interactive Figma prototype: 8 weeks.
Children outgrow wardrobes every 3 to 6 months, leaving parents with endless boxes of gently-used items. Existing resale platforms are flooded with adult fast-fashion and tedious listing forms. KidLoop needed a dedicated, trusted marketplace where parents can list complete sets in under 60 seconds.
End-to-end iOS and Android design including rapid multi-photo listing, age/size smart filtering, bundle discounts, secure payments, and local parent pickup coordination.
Problem statement
We analyzed how modern parents manage wardrobe transitions, turning a time-consuming chore into an effortless, rewarding habit.
Interviewed 25 parents with children aged 0–10. Over 80% reported having bags of outgrown clothes they intended to sell but abandoned because traditional listing flows demanded 15+ manual fields.
Kids' sizing varies drastically across brands (months, toddler T-sizes, years). We created an intuitive universal sizing map combining age, height, and brand-specific fit indicators.
Developed a playful yet clean design system using Poppins typography, high-contrast accessible color tokens, and tactile tap targets optimized for one-handed thumb navigation.
Conducted task-based usability testing across 12 parents testing rapid photo capture, bundle cart checkout, and neighborhood meetup scheduling.
Challenge
KidLoop replaces traditional marketplace friction with a lightning-fast listing camera, automated bundle discounts, and trusted parent communities.
A streamlined camera flow with automatic smart suggestions for category, size, and brand. Parents photograph an outfit, select condition in one tap, set a price, and publish.
One-tap filtering by child age, gender, and season, with dynamic feed recommendations that automatically evolve as the child grows older.
Built-in multi-item bundle incentives allowing buyers to combine seasonal wardrobes into a single shipping parcel, saving costs and packaging waste.
Community ratings, verified parent badges, and smoke-free/pet-free home indicators ensure complete confidence in hygiene and garment quality.

Key Findings
78% of parents prefer buying clothes in bundles rather than single pieces to save on shipping costs
Simplified 3-step listing flow increased listing completion rate from 34% to 89% in usability testing
Filtering by exact current height and age reduced buyer return inquiries by 62%
Visual condition badges (New with Tags, Like New, Play Wear) increased buyer purchase confidence by 4x
